Brilliant Matters

Jean-Rémi Pouliot was born in Quebec City, Canada, and received his B.Sc. in Chemistry from Université Laval in 2011. He was awarded a NSERC Graham-Bell scholarship while doing his Ph.D. under the supervision of Professor Mario Leclerc. His research focused on the development and adaptation of direct (hetero)arylation polymerization with an emphasis on high-performance materials for plastic electronics. Believing in the commercial potential of this technology, he co-founded Brilliant Matters along with Philippe Berrouard in 2016. The idea was to bring sustainable, greener material production methods to the printed electronics market and sub-markets.

How Organic Semiconductors Can Contribute to a More Sustainable Electronics Industry

On earth, millions of tons of e-waste end their life in our landfills every year. Printed electronics are at the forefront in the quest for a sustainable alternative to traditional electronics. Organic semiconductors (OSCs) come from largely available carbon building blocks and can be fine tuned to interact with specific wavelengths, making them potential candidates for virtually any application, from sensing to energy harvesting. By using patented technologies and the expertise of our Materials Chemistry team, Brilliant Matters enables eco-friendly and sustainable production of high-quality organic semiconductors, from lab-to-fab. The possibility of fine tuning organic semiconductors to fit your application, combined with Brilliant Matters’ core technological portfolio, makes our material an ideal candidate for technologies of the future.
